Putting the Montessori Philosophy into Practice

Montessori International Academy was established in Costa Mesa, Ca in 2010.  After spending two years in Costa Mesa, MIA relocated to a larger facility in Santa Ana.  Since moving we have grown in the number of children and now offer two Toddler classrooms, two Early Childhood classrooms and one Kindergarten class.  We have two facilities, shared by a private road.  One facility holds our Toddler and Early Childhood programs and the other facility is for our Kindergarten and School Age program’s.

We have a large playground with grass and concrete areas, as well as a sandbox.  We have many different tools and play materials for children to choose from such as tricycles,balls, jump ropes, hula hoops, sand toys, chalk, bubbles, and more.  Children are able to develop and strengthen their gross and fine motor skills while still having fun.

Hands on experiences are very important to us at MIA.  We have a garden that is maintained by the children.  Classes decide on what to grow, how to care for the plants, and how to harvest the plant when ready.
