Hi everyone!

Everyone had a wonderful holiday season with your family and friends. May the New Year bring you happiness, peace, and prosperity! Wishing you a joyous 2020
Today, I will talk about ”Independence” in a Montessori Education.
What do you think when you hear the word, “independence?”
There are many types of independence we can think of such as emotional, financial, and psychological.
One of the first experiences of independence that young children have is the independence of Self Help such as changing clothes, using restrooms and eating by themselves, etc.
They are so interested in the activity because they are attracted to the movements.
What do you mean by movement???
They are eager to gain motor skills to control their body on their own.
Because of the attraction of the movement, the children are naturally eager to learn how to move their body so that they can use the skill for their everyday lives.
We need to let them practice the movement. Importantly children can fulfill their developmental needs by allowing them to practice the movement and develop in the right directions.
Commonly, 2 year old children are known by terrible two.
But are they really a handful?
Why are they acting that way?
【2 year old girl story】
Because they want to move how you (adults) move!
A child wants to put her shoes on but seems to be struggling.
Her mother tries to help but the child refuses the help.
The child ended up taking 5 mins to put on her shoes but they were on the wrong feet.
Her mother said, “Oh no……..” but the child was happy.
Depending on their developmental stage, they have different interests in movement.
However, all of the children want to do it by themselves!
That is also a part of auto education.
That developmental need leads children to do the activities over and over.
As a result, they become independent to take care of themselves.
In the next blog, I will share how you can help your child to become more independent!
